Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning

(RPL)

RPL is an assessment process that assesses an individual’s non-formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion of, a qualification.

The aim of recognition is to reduce repetition of previous learning by acknowledging an individual’s skills and knowledge acquired through formal and informal learning in Australia and overseas.

Participants can apply for recognition in the course or qualification in which they are enrolled at any time. It is however, in the interest of both the individual and Kagan Australia, that participants apply for recognition as soon as possible after enrolment in a course.

Kagan courses are generally exclusive and course material covered within one training course is not covered within another course. The exceptions are the basic principles of cooperative learning, domains of usefulness and the keys to success. These component are covered in varying degrees within most Kagan courses.

All requests for recognition of prior learning will be considered and participants will be informed of the components of the courses they will be granted exemptions from.
